Since childhood I wanted to excel in Yoga but I never encountered a right teacher. When I first attended an Iyengar Yoga (alignment, right posture) class I realized this is the way of Yoga I want to learn and pursue further.
The city I am living in still doesn’t have any Iyengar Yoga teacher. Considering this fact, this lockdown had been a true blessing for me. It opened the doors for many people like me to find the right teacher through an online platform.
When I first saw the video of Gayathri ma’am, I was amazed with the depth in each and every asana. It was so well articulated that I immediately wanted to join the classes.
Classes are so well researched and planned. Every single class is different from the other. I always get amazed by the fact that there are so many multiple ways of doing the same asana. A simple trikon asana has a different understanding in each class. Each class awakens my horizons to a new angle. It makes me realize that YOGA is deep and vast like an ocean and I am still near the shore.
Initially I had the tendency to just somehow manage to reach the final pose of every asana. After attending IYD classes I have realized yoga is not reaching the final pose, it is about doing the pose in the right manner from the start. Yoga is not about overdoing one part and under doing another part of the body.
Making all this realization in an online class is simply spell bounding.
Having a teacher who
– puts her heart and soul in every single class
– incorporates the body constitute and medical condition of every single person and
– makes a sincere attempt to help students carry forward the wisdom of guruji

is a blessing for one and all.
I am and I will be forever grateful to Gayathri ma’am and Parimala Ma’am for accepting me as their student and making us witness the greatness of guruji through their teaching.
